Want to know more about the people who assemble your favourite watches?
Meet Laura, a fashion jewellery maker and graduate from Barcelona.
Laura recently joined our watchmaking team, and her main responsibility is putting all the watch parts together - the final step to creating a Mr Jones Watch.
Tell us a little bit about you?
I’m from Barcelona (Spain). From a very young age my parents took us to museums, concerts, the theatre, and pretty much anywhere that would develop our creativity. This is something that I still enjoy doing to this day.
And the fact that London has such a broad and ever-changing cultural scene is one of the reasons that drove me to move here.
I started my jewellery-making studies in Barcelona, at JORGC (official association in Catalonia), and later on moved to London and graduated from Fashion Jewellery at the London College of Fashion.
Recently, I obtained the Diamond Diploma and the Gemmology Diploma qualifications form Gem-A, and I’m currently taking a course on pearls.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I'm developing my own jewellery brand called Suzzari at the moment, where I try to combine both my hand-making skills with new technologies to create my own unique designs.
I’m always willing to learn and try new things; a new language, new skills, some history, etc.
I particularly enjoy cooking, and trying new recipes, specially anything related to baking, often while watching some TV or reading a book.
Which is your favourite Mr Jones watch?
I usually fall in love with all the watch designs the minute I learn to assemble them, but my favourite would have to be Sun & Moon.
I'm wearing it all the time at the moment and I really like the fact that it’s inspired by an antique watch design.
