Workshop Assistant (Maternity Cover)
Hours: Full time, 9am-5pm Monday to Friday
Salary: £12 per hour
Location: Forest Hill, South East London

Main Duties

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Workshop Assistant to help out in our small, busy watch production workshop in Forest Hill, SE23 and occasionally in our second workshop in Camberwell SE5.

This position is maternity cover and is until August 2023.

We print and assemble all our watches in London and you will be part of the assembly team.

Your role will focus on preparing components, as well as helping the assembly staff with finishing jobs. Full training will be given in all aspects of the role.

The job is full-time, working weekdays from 9am – 5pm in our workshop in Forest Hill, London SE23.

In addition to your salary, all staff receive BUPA private healthcare and dental care as part of their remuneration.

We’re looking for someone to start as soon as possible and join our small, growing company.

We take a great deal of pride in the products that we make and we look forward to welcoming you to work with us.

Your main duties will entail:

• cutting and storing printed disc hands

• shortening watch stems and fitting crowns

• laser engraving watch case backs

• riveting disc hands

• fitting glasses into watch cases

We recognise that these are all extremely specialised tasks and you’re unlikely to have done any of them before (indeed the list above is probably more or less a mystery) but full training will be given – you just need to be enthusiastic, patient and willing to learn.

Skills and experience required

• We’re looking for someone who is willing to learn – full training will be given in all aspects of the role

• Superb hand eye co-ordination and excellent attention to detail

• The ability to organise their own workflow and troubleshoot problems as they arise

• This position would suit someone with a background in jewellery making or other craft activities

• The work entails being systematic and careful even if it’s a task that you’ve completed many times before
