Oversize Smiths De Luxe (1954)

£ 950
This is a very rare Smiths model the combination of oversize gold case and black Smiths De Luxe dial is extremely unusual. This particular model isn't featured in Barrie Smith's compendium of vintage Smith's catalogues, possibly this was part of a small test run. A smaller size (33mm) black dialled gold Smiths De Luxe features in the 50s and this watch shares many features of that model.

This watch has the largest size case that Smiths made (actually the case was made for them by MWC, that is British Watchmaking Company). The case is 35mm and feels a good size on the wrist. The case is in good condition, it has some scratches and marks from us, but no serious issues. The case is hallmarked for 1954 (Edinburgh letter 'Y')

The watch has been fully serviced and regulated and the time keeping is good. It is supplied with a new Hirsch leather strap. This is a rare watch and very wearable for the person who cherishes the tradition of the English-made watch.
