Rolex Oyster (1956)
This particular watch is notable because it features the first depth rating of a Rolex printed on the dial; the watch is rated as waterproof to 50m / 165ft which is modest by contemporary standards but represented a considerable step forward in the 1950s - no other watch brand at this time was prepared to stand by the waterproof rating of their watch in the same way. Rolex made the watch waterproof by having the crown screw down into the case, so this needs to be unscrewed for winding every day.
The watch has a slightly later, but correct style of bracelet (dates from the early 1960s). It comes with two spare links which can be used to make the strap larger (there is a small amount of adjustment possible by moving the spring bars on the clasp).
The movement has been fully serviced and the time keeping is excellent. The case has been ultrasonically cleaned, but not polished and the seals have been replaced. The new seals will give a high level of water protection, but I would be very careful to avoid submerging the watch in water. The watch comes with our standard 12 month guarantee and
