The Promise of Happiness
Track the time like a tiger with this miniature jungle scene.
This unique watch encourages you to have fun with your time.
The playful tiger looks to the moon for the hour and you’ll find the minutes camouflaged within his stripes.
This intricate piece of wearable artwork was hand-painted for us by Fanny Shorter.
We then printed each colour of the design layer by layer, and assembled the watch in our London workshop.
The layered print on the watch, makes the time completely integrated within the jungle scene.
How to read the time
The moon in the night sky will show you the hour, the minutes pass through the tigers stripes.
The watch also has a jump hour feature, so the hour flips in the moon, exactly on the 59 > 00 minute shift, blink and you’ll miss it!
Watch movement
The Promise of Happiness is powered by a 20 jewel automatic mechanical movement.
This means the motion of wearing your watch provides the power to wind it up and keep it running.

Fanny Shorter is a designer and printmaker. She grew up in the quintessentially English county town of Winchester, surrounded by historic architecture and idyllic countryside. Her upbringing formed an enduring influence on her designs and how her work is manufactured.
Fanny originally trained as an illustrator at Brighton University. In 2011 she established her eponymous range of textiles, prints and accessories from her studio at Cockpit Arts in London. Fanny explains her thinking behind the design:
“I was mostly inspired by folk and naive art, specifically Pahari Indian miniature paintings.
I saw the British Museum exhibition 'Gardens and Cosmos' way back and the incredible detail of the paintings has always stuck in my mind. I really wanted to explore the idea of painting to a very small scale and this watch design was the perfect opportunity.
I’ve always loved Henri Rousseau. He’s painted many a jungle scene, so I looked to him for a colour palette. Rousseau was also the inspiration for the name of the watch - it’s from a statement he made: ”beauty is the promise of happiness”.
