Celebrating the women of MJW
Did you know that the Mr Jones Watches team is made up of mainly women?
It’s completely by chance that this has happened as our small business has grown. We invest in cool people with talent and we’re lucky to have had a lot of gifted women apply for jobs with us.
As it’s International Women’s Day on Friday, we want to take the time to celebrate some of the talented women in our team.
Most of our team are trained in skills other than watchmaking, many are award winning print-makers, artists and jewellers - it’s safe to say that jewellery making and watchmaking go hand in hand, right? They both involve teeny tiny tweezers and complicated components…
Not only are our team brilliant at what they do at MJW, they are excellent in their ventures outside of work.
Cat is our Head of Production, she oversees who’s making which watches when. She is also an extremely talented contemporary jewellery designer-maker for her very own brand, Catherine Rua Jewellery, where she sells her artwork at shows and exhibitions.
Nell is our Senior Print Technician and loves getting her hands dirty (mainly with watch ink…). Outside of MJW, Nell is skilled in illustration, weaving and textiles, making her own beautiful tapestries from scratch!
Shannon is our Customer Support and Administration Assistant. When she’s not assisting you with your watch purchase, she is a Designer and Workshop Facilitator - her work being centred around social and environmental regenerative practice.
Hannah works as a Sales Assistant at our Covent Garden store. Alongside this, she studies textile design and has a strong interest in how art and craft methods can be used to aid community wellbeing. Hannah hopes to lead creative workshops in the future to help participants develop new skills and strengthen their self-esteem.
Amanda, our proficient PR Lead, runs weekly, commercial dance classes to help women build confidence and feel amazing in their body. Also organising socials for the group so they can mingle and make friends - because we all know it can be hard meeting new people outside of work when you’re an adult!
From production and customer service to marketing and our shop team, the MJW women are a force to be reckoned with. But we can’t forget the most inspirational of them all… the lady pups. Sorry Stanley, we’re stealing your spotlight for a sec, give it up for Wren and Apple!
We’d also like to acknowledge the many exceptional women who have worked with us and designed some of the most beautiful watches.
The likes of Fanny Shorter, Ana Dias, Marion Labbez, Yo Hosoyamada and Hannah Sung are just the tip of the ingenious iceberg - and we admire their work daily.
