Behind the scenes: Creating Photobomb
We were lucky enough to work with talented French Author-Illustrator, Xavier Broche on our latest limited edition release, Photobomb.
This playful and nostalgic watch was designed as a reminder to embrace life’s imperfections.
Xavier was inspired that our best laid plans can often lead to the unexpected.
After Xavier came up with his initial concept we worked closely with him on sketches for the design before beginning the sampling process.
On the watch face, a perfectly composed photo being photobombed by a squirrel demonstrates how spontaneity and unplanned moments can bring joy.
Xavier’s thoughts behind the design:
“I started thinking about a moment when everything aligns perfectly: the perfect place, the person you love, the feeling of joy.
With this perfect moment there's a desire to immortalise this moment with the perfect photo. But there’s often that one little detail that spoils the beautiful view. And what could be more unexpected than a squirrel inserting his furry face into this perfect scene! Something really perfect needs a touch of surprise or absurdity to make it complete”.
Once we were happy with the printed samples we began the production process.
Our talented Print Technician, Louise, mixed and printed the individual colours for this design one by one in our print room.
Once the components were ready she passed them on to Mariana and Cat from our assembly team who assembled and tested 100 pieces of this fun design in our London workshop.
We were thrilled to work with Xavier on such a charismatic design with an important message.
On its release day the design sold out in less than 3 hours and we were so pleased that our customers loved the design as much as we did!
